Select Experience
In the college and professional coaching ranks, there is no such thing as job security. Coaches are frequently fired, forced to resign or pushed to retire before the conclusion of their employment contracts. However, as organizations increasingly are weaponizing violations and infractions in an effort to find cause for dismissals, it is vitally important for coaches and other personnel to understand the terms and conditions of their contracts.
In fact, if a university or professional team fires a coach without cause, he/she may seek damages against the institution for being wrongfully terminated. In June 2020, Lyons & Simmons successfully obtained a $2.55 million settlement on behalf of former University of Kansas head football coach David Beaty after he was fired without cause in 2018.
The attorneys of Lyons & Simmons are committed to protecting the rights and best interests of coaches who were fired without proper cause or even before a full and proper investigation is concluded, by investigating allegations, collecting, and examining the evidence preceding the wrongful termination, and developing a strong and personalized legal strategy to recover entitled compensation.
